โšฝ Wanderers Weekly: Five Cup Ties and a Milestone in Sight ๐Ÿฆ

Ninety-four goals crossed our pitches last weekend, our U15 boys made it five wins from five, and Kallie sits one strike shy of fifteen for the season. That is the sort of form that turns a good autumn into a memorable one, and this Saturday and Sunday we do it all again with five cup ties dotted across the age groups. Grab a brew, find a good spot on the touchline, and let’s get into it.

๐Ÿงฌ The Club DNA Report ๐Ÿงฌ

Belmont Wanderers has never been about one team or one result. We are a club that plays on the front foot, defends for one another, and carries itself with a smile whatever the scoreline. This week the numbers told that story loud and clear.

Our Attacking Prowess was the headline act. Five hat-tricks in a single weekend, tallies of ten, eight and three separate sevens, and a total that lit up scorecards from the U8s to the girls’ sides. When Belmont teams find their rhythm, as the U8s did in their 10-3 and the Cannons in their 7-0, we are a genuine joy to watch. Twenty-two Player of the Match awards and fourteen Playmaker nods show the creativity is spread right across the club, not hoarded by one or two.

Defensively there is honest work to be done, and that is no bad thing. Two clean sheets and two Wall Awards prove the foundations are there, and a few heavy afternoons simply give our coaches clear targets for the training ground. What never wavered were our values: six Sportsmanship Awards and seven Captain’s Armbands say that even on the tough days, Belmont players lead and behave the right way. Keep scoring for fun, keep tightening at the back, and keep looking after each other, and this club will keep climbing. That is the Belmont way.

๐Ÿ’› Club Connections ๐Ÿ’›

Keep an eye out for the family threads running right through this weekend. Over in the U9 Belmont Bells Girls and the U10 Vipers you’ll find two sets of sisters in action on the same morning, with Harper and Ella, and May and Nancy, all pulling on the Belmont badge at once. And a special word for the Bullets, where Mya lines up while sister EM turns out for the Belles, and where Kallie’s little brother Reuben is busy earning his own stripes with the Tornadoes. Coaching-wise, plenty of proud parents on the touchline too: Peter Pusharski with the bulls and Damion Gallimore with the U8s are among six coaches whose own children play this weekend. That, in a nutshell, is what a community club looks like.

๐Ÿ’ก Team Spotlight

This week the spotlight falls on our Belmont Wanderers U18s, guided by coach Rob Mayo-Evans. The squad features AA and JJ, and the whole club will be right behind them. Give them a cheer whenever you see them out and about!

A Big Belmont Welcome

A warm Belmont handshake to everyone who joined the family this week: Brandon (Belmont Falcons u11), Brandon (Belmont wanderers sharks), Freddie (Belmont Falcons u11), Reggie (Belmont Wanderers U8s), Mario (Belmont juniors), Buddy (Belmont Wanderers Eagles), Loella (U9 Belmont Bells Girls), Bear (Belmont Wanderers Hawks u12), Maximilian (Spartans) and Roman (Belmont bulls). We’re absolutely thrilled to have you with us. Reggie, incidentally, marked his arrival with a hat-trick in the U8s’ 10-3 win. Not a bad way to say hello!

โœจ Last Week’s Highlights โœจ

Belmont U8 Raiders vs Toros FC U8 Toffees (Lost 0-2)

A scoreline that flatters the Toffees, given the energy and one-twos our Raiders poured into this one. Lucas was tireless in earning his Player of the Match, and with smiles this wide, the goals will follow.

Belmont Falcons U12 vs Wellington Youth U12 Blue (Lost 0-9)

A tough morning against a top-of-the-table outfit, but the Falcons never once dropped their heads. Once they found their rhythm midway through the half, the character was there for all to see, and that grit is what carries young teams forward.

Belmont Wanderers U10 Vipers vs Tupsley Girls U10 Lions (Lost 2-5)

The result went Tupsley’s way, but the Vipers’ communication and positioning are clearly on the up, and a two-goal haul is real reward for progress. Huge credit too for the shift in goal that earned the internal Player of the Match nod.

Belmont Wanderers U15 vs Toros FC U15 (Won 2-1)

Five games, five wins, and this one earned away from home against a side sitting third. Two well-taken goals and a backs-to-the-wall finish make this a statement, and a tasty cup rematch with Toros is next.

Belmont Hammers vs Westfields Youth U14 (Lost 3-4)

A frustrating afternoon where the Hammers fought back three times but couldn’t quite level a fourth. Lola’s strike from outside the box kept them swinging until the last, and this is just a small bump for a side with real quality.

Belmont Wanderers Hawks u12 vs Kington Town Youth (Drew 1-1, won 4-3 on penalties)

Cup nerves? Not a chance. The Hawks responded superbly after going behind and held their composure from the spot, and with so many new faces gelling, that final-whistle joy was thoroughly deserved.

Belmont Bullets U14 Girls vs English Bicknor Youth U14 (Won 7-3)

Another statement from the league’s runaway leaders, with strikes raining in from all angles. On a day of high emotion, Mya marked her first league start against her old club in style, and the Bullets keep on rolling.

Belmont Cannons vs Westfields Youth U15 Girls (Won 7-0)

A near-perfect afternoon, capped by a debutant slotting home her own penalty and Keira’s first goal born straight from the training ground. When every single player turns up like this, the Cannons are a formidable watch.

Belmont U14 Boys vs Ledbury FC Youth U14 Rovers (Drew 2-2)

A hard-earned point on a tricky, sloping pitch, with the lads twice showing the character to respond. Stan’s leveller capped a display full of promise, and they even came close to nicking all three at the death.

Belmont Wanderers Ladies vs Westfields Ladies (Drew 1-1)

A gritty season opener brightened by some of our U17s stepping up seamlessly alongside the seniors. Captain Ellie’s worldie and a goal-line clearance secured a positive point, with Tilly outstanding throughout.

Belmont colts u16 boys vs Ludlow Town FC U16 First (Lost 1-5)

Seventy minutes toe-to-toe with the league leaders before legs finally tired: that is a performance to build on, not to mourn. The scoreline hides a top-quality shift from everyone in colts colours.

Spartans vs FC Phoenix U13 Rovers (Drew 0-0)

A stubborn, hard-fought clean sheet against a strong side is nothing to sniff at. The Spartans dug in, kept their shape and took a point from a testing afternoon.

Belmont wanderers sharks vs Toros FC U12 Titans (Lost 1-11)

A chastening one against a seriously strong Titans outfit, but the Sharks kept going and got themselves on the scoresheet. Days like this only sharpen the appetite for the ones to come.

Belmont Wanderers U9 Lions vs Tenbury United Youth U9 (Won 7-1)

Creative, confident and clinical, the Lions produced a lovely away-day display against fresh opposition. With back-to-back cup glory the aim, they arrive at round one in flying form.

Belmont U10 Flames vs Toros FC U10 Santos (Won 3-2)

A first-round cup hurdle these boys had never cleared before, finally conquered with grit to spare. David, Kevin and Charlie all found the net, and a nervy final five minutes only made the victory sweeter. Into the next round we go!

Belmont bulls vs Tupsley Girls U11 Trailblazers (Won 8-3)

Challenged to start fast, the bulls fired three in the opening five minutes and never looked back. Dexter’s four-goal haul lit up the win, Theo weighed in with five assists, and they march into round two as the team nobody wants to draw.

Belmont Wanderers U8s vs FC Phoenix U8 United (Won 10-3)

An absolute festival of football, with the passing at times a genuine pleasure to watch. Jack’s four and hat-tricks for both Reggie and Keegan headlined a ten-goal romp, capped by Jidenna’s first goal for the club.

Belmont Falcons u11 vs Shobdon Colts U11 (Won 7-2)

Sharp, slick and full of team play, the Falcons made it two wins and a draw to open the season. Braces from Freddie and Brandon led the way, and AJ even swapped his gloves for a debut goal at the death.

Belmont U8 Raiders vs Toros FC U8 Toffees (Lost 0-4)

Bouncing back from a hard week, the Raiders battled well and, by every account, showed real progress. The scoreline won’t tell it, but the big smiles at full time will.

Belmont Wanderers U11 vs Ludlow Town FC U11 Lions (Won 6-2)

Two up inside four minutes and never rattled thereafter, this was a composed, deserved win. Max’s finish from the byline was the pick of a very tidy afternoon’s work.

โญ Standout of the Week โญ

Take a bow, Lacie-mai (Belmont Cannons). Three awards and a whopping +108 points this week make her our standout, a reward for a young player making everything count. Superb stuff.
