โฝ Wanderers Weekly: Bullets Turn It Around ๐ฆ
Three-one down at the break against last season’s unbeaten Division 3 side, our U14 Girls could have folded. Instead they came out swinging, and Kallie’s four-goal masterclass dragged Belmont from the brink to a 5-4 win that will be talked about for months. It set the tone for a weekend where nearly every corner of the club had a story to tell, from the U8s’ first competitive whistle to the U15s making it six points from six. Pour yourself a brew, this one’s a bumper edition.
๐งฌ The Club DNA Report ๐งฌ
Belmont Wanderers has never been about one team or one result. Our identity lives in the whole family stepping out together, from the smallest boots to open-age football, and this week that identity shone from first whistle to last.
This week, our Attacking Prowess was the headline. Across our reporting sides we banged in goals for fun, with two hat-tricks to savour and multiple sides hitting five, seven and beyond. When the ball moves quickly and everyone works off it, chances arrive in waves, and our forwards took them with real relish. That appetite to attack, whatever the scoreline, is exactly the Belmont way.
Defensively, three clean sheets and six ‘Wall’ awards prove the foundations are sound, even if a couple of heavy afternoons, some down to rotten injury luck between the posts, remind us there’s work to do. The good news runs deeper than goals: two sportsmanship awards and three captain’s armbands show our Club Values are alive, while eight Player of the Match honours and five Playmaker awards tell you our Player Development pillar is thriving. Keep competing, keep supporting one another, and keep playing football we can be proud of. As individuals we’re growing, as teams we’re brilliant, and as a club we’re only getting stronger.
โ๏ธ Weekend Weather Watch โ๏ธ
- Saturday: Overcast with highs of 20.4ยฐC and a cooler 12.5ยฐC low. Grand conditions for football, a jumper for the sidelines wouldn’t hurt.
- Sunday: Rain on the way, up to 20.7ยฐC but muggy with it. Pack the brolly and the spare socks.

๐ Club Connections ๐
There’s family woven right through this weekend’s teamsheets. Isla laces up for the U10 Vipers while her brother Harvey turns out for the U14 Boys, and the Vipers are something of a sibling hub: Darci-Leigh, Maddison, Scarlett and Nancy all have brothers and sisters in Belmont colours elsewhere across the club. A special mention to two busy bees pulling double duty: Theo features for both Belmont bulls and the U9 Lions, and Leo lines up for both the U15s and the U14 Boys. That’s proper love for the badge.
๐ก Team Spotlight
This week the spotlight falls on our Belmont colts u16 boys, marshalled by coach Jason Baginski, who’ll have extra reason to cheer with his own child in the squad. The talented group: Connor, Jack, Jayden, Jenson, Logan, Rares, Riley, Finley, Paul, Harry, Harry, Josh, Oscar, Oliver and Evan. Go well, lads.

โจ Last Week’s Highlights โจ
Belmont Wanderers U15 vs Westfields Youth U15 Juniors
Final Score: Won 5-1 | Player of the Match: Blake
Journalist’s Take: Six points from the opening two games and a three-goal first-half cushion, the U15s look every bit a side that means business. One late lapse aside, this was controlled, purposeful football that sets a lovely early benchmark.
Belmont wanderers sharks vs Wessington Juniors U12 Bears
Final Score: Won 2-0 | Player of the Match: Thomas-jay
Journalist’s Take: A first win of the season and a clean sheet to boot, built on high pressing and a stunning diving save from the Sharks’ number one. Moments of real magic from front to back suggest this group is clicking at just the right time, and just in time for that derby.

Belmont Wanderers U10 Vipers vs Hereford Lads Club Youth U10 Gazelles
Final Score: Lost 1-8 | Player of the Match: Ella
Journalist’s Take: Scorelines don’t tell the story of a brand-new team playing their very first game together, and these girls competed to the final whistle with smiles and heart. There were passages of real promise here, and this is a starting point to build on, not a verdict.
Belmont Wanderers U15 vs Westfields Youth U15
Final Score: Won 2-1 | Player of the Match: Charlie
Journalist’s Take: A gritty opening-day win against an evenly matched side, sealed by a lovely finish from Ellis after Westfields had levelled. Digging in to reclaim control after a setback is exactly the character that wins leagues.
Belmont Bullets U14 Girls vs Hucclecote Youth U14 Wildcats
Final Score: Won 5-4 | Player of the Match: The team
Journalist’s Take: Three-one down and seemingly out, the Bullets rewrote the script with a stunning second-half fightback, Kallie’s four goals and a hat-trick of assists from Lola the beating heart of it. A tactical tweak, unshakeable belief and a winner right at the death: this is the stuff of season openers you never forget.
Belmont Hammers vs Ledbury
Final Score: Won 4-3 | Player of the Match: KG
Journalist’s Take: A nervy, seven-goal thriller edged in Belmont’s favour, and three points is three points however it arrives. The Hammers head into the weekend with momentum and a taste for the dramatic.
Belmont Wanderers Hawks u12 vs Bartestree FC U12 Colts
Final Score: Lost 0-8 | Player of the Match: Not specified
Journalist’s Take: Losing your keeper to injury on Friday night and then his replacement inside twenty minutes is about as cruel as football gets. Chalk this one off, dust down and go again, nobody could have asked more of the lads in the circumstances.
Belmont Falcons U12 vs Presteigne St Andrews FC U12
Final Score: Won 3-1 | Player of the Match: William
Journalist’s Take: Crisp passing, relentless pressure and a poacher’s double from William made for a dominant morning’s work. With Max’s curling opener the pick of the goals, this is a team playing with real confidence and rhythm.
Belmont Wanderers U9 Lions vs Toros FC U9 Rapids
Final Score: Won 5-0 | Player of the Match: Logan
Journalist’s Take: The cup champions opened their campaign in style, with Logan’s thunderbolt breaking the resistance of an inspired Toros keeper. Slick link-up and tireless work off the ball, exactly what you want to see from a side with a badge to defend.

Belmont U10 Flames vs Shobdon Colts U10 Spitfire
Final Score: Won 5-4 | Player of the Match: Olly
Journalist’s Take: A rollercoaster opener that the Flames led, wobbled in and ultimately held onto with a bit of grit and a bit of luck. That front-foot first half is the standard to chase, and coming through a nervy finish will do this young side the world of good.

Belmont Wanderers U8s vs Ross Juniors U8
Final Score: Won 7-2 | Player of the Match: Noah
Journalist’s Take: A dream first competitive outing, complete with a hat-trick, a goal straight from a goal kick and a Man of the Match keeper making one-on-one saves for fun. For a first league game, this was a joy from start to finish.
Belmont Falcons u11 vs Wessington Juniors U11 Lions
Final Score: Won 7-0 | Player of the Match: Reggie
Journalist’s Take: Seven unanswered goals and a performance oozing togetherness, this was a statement opening day for the Falcons. With everyone contributing and the team visibly clicking, it’s a thrilling platform to build the season on.
Belmont U8 Raiders vs Ross Juniors U8 Colts
Final Score: Lost 5-12 | Player of the Match: Not specified
Journalist’s Take: Five-nil down and half the side playing up an age, these boys roared back to 5-4 with a debut hat-trick from Patrick and never lost their smiles. The final score belies a spirit that will serve this new team brilliantly.
