⚽ Wanderers Weekly: Pre-Season Has the Goals Flowing 🦁
Thirty goals across three fixtures, two hat-tricks and the Men’s First Team dusting off a 7-0 — if this is what pre-season looks like, roll on the campaign proper. The clubhouse kettle has barely stopped as three more players signed on the dotted line, our U9 Lions announced their return in emphatic style, and Saturday brings a rare treat with the First Team out twice in one afternoon. Grab a brew, find a good spot on the touchline, and let’s dig into a week that had Belmont buzzing from the U9s to the open-age lads.
🧬 The Club DNA Report 🧬
At Belmont Wanderers, we’ve always believed that how we play matters just as much as what shows up in the results column. Our identity is built on brave, front-foot football and a togetherness that runs from the Under-7s to our adult sides. This week, that identity was written large across every pitch we set foot on.
Make no mistake, our Attacking Prowess was the headline act. Thirty goals scored across three games, two hat-tricks to savour and scorelines of 12, 11 and 7 tell the story of teams playing with freedom and real cutting edge. When we move the ball with intent and back ourselves in the final third, this is what Belmont looks like — and it’s a joy to watch.
Behind that, our Defensive Solidarity gave the forwards a foundation to build on. A clean sheet, a well-earned Wall Award and just a handful conceded across the week show a back line that’s concentrating and competing — the platform every good side is built upon. If there’s a gentle nudge, it’s around our Club Values and Player Development honours: two Players of the Match are richly deserved, but let’s make a point of nominating those sportsmanship and captaincy moments too, because they matter every bit as much. Belmont has never been solely about the scoreline — we build good footballers and even better people, and with a full season ahead, that’s the philosophy that will carry us further than any single result ever could.
